Ski / Snowboard Counsellor

Gross monthly salary: CHF 3,675 – Convert to other currencies
Approx net weekly salary: CHF 515 – Convert to other currencies
Minimum age: 21

Counsellors are responsible for the daily supervision and instruction of a small group of children with a similar ski and/or snowboard ability. Children never ski alone and are supervised from leaving the hotel/chalet in the morning to their safe return home at the end of the day.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience instructing both skiing and snowboarding, but a limited number of positions are available to applicants with only skiing or only snowboarding instructing experience.

Requirements

 

  • Fluent in English.
  • First aid and CPR qualification issued by a recognised body.
  • Internationally recognised ski and/or snowboard instructor qualification.
  • Experience supervising, teaching and motivating children, preferably in a camp environment.
  • Organised, creative, adaptable, trustworthy, patient and presentable.

Net weekly salary is offered only as a guideline to indicate the approximate net salary after tax (for an unmarried person with no dependent children) and other deductions have been made and is subject to change. All salaries are paid at the end of each calendar month in Swiss francs (CHF).

Duties and responsibilities

 

Depending on the ability level and requirements of the group, counsellors may be expected to manage and present a video ski clinic or prepare a video skills review for school examination boards. All counsellors promote teamwork within their group as well as an appreciation of the mountain environment and encourage every child to improve their technique and develop their skills.

 

  • Participate in and contribute to the compulsory training and assessment period.
  • Take responsibility for the health, safety and well-being of a group of children during the daily ski and snowboard programme.
  • Prepare for and instruct a daily lesson plan appropriate to the ability level of the children.
  • Assist in the organisation of and participate fully in an evening activity programme, as required.
  • Supervise the children during all mealtimes.
  • Assist school chaperones with wake-up, lights-out and other supervisory duties, as required.
  • Escort the groups from/to their arrival/departure at airports and train stations, as required.
  • Accompany the groups on excursions and participate in visits to places of interest, as required.
  • Be a role model to the children, acting responsibly and in a caring manner at all times.
  • Show understanding of and appreciation for diverse cultural backgrounds within the children, school chaperones and Viamonde staff.
